After the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, announced the start of a surprise review of the Pacific Fleet, raising its readiness to the highest level, the highest level of combat readiness, the Kremlin insisted that the latest actions were different from NATO’s plans.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov added today Friday that the surprise inspection of the Russian Pacific Fleet is a routine procedure to assess the combat readiness of the armed forces.
He told reporters that raising the alert level for his forces in the Pacific is aimed at assessing combat readiness, as well as raising the ability to resolve issues that prevent potential aggression.
He emphasized that this was normal, explaining that the surprise inspection was continuing, a well-known practice that has continued in recent years to maintain the necessary level of combat readiness among the Russian armed forces.
With official supervision
This comes after I clarified that Naval Commander-in-Chief Nikolai Evminov is personally overseeing the study.
Speaking during a meeting with the heads of the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian Defense Minister Shoigu said that part of the Air Force, military units and support units will participate in surprise inspections of the Pacific Fleet.
He stressed that the study aims to raise the level of readiness of the Russian Armed Forces to prevent possible aggression from sea directions.
Shoigu directed the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Forces and the General Staff to organize the control of conducting large-scale exercises for the Pacific Fleet, which would prepare for military operations and field work in a short period of time.
An unannounced study
It is noteworthy that the Pacific Fleet, on surprise inspection, will repel the largest missile and air attacks of an imaginary enemy, as well as launch all types of fire.
Shoigu instructed Sorovikhin to involve Long-Range Aviation Command and Air Defense Air Force reconnaissance aircraft in Pacific naval exercises, and instructed him to make options for the use of various groups as part of Pacific naval exercises.

The Pacific Fleet is an integral part of the Russian Navy and Armed Forces, and is a strike shield to ensure Russia’s military security in the Asia-Pacific region. It was established on January 11, 1935.
To fulfill its assigned missions, the Pacific Fleet includes strategic missile submarines, multi-purpose nuclear and diesel submarines, surface ships for offshore and near-sea operations, naval anti-submarine warfare ships, fighter aircraft, ground forces, and land and coastal units.
