U.S. media reported on Tuesday that Washington was approving a new $ 800 million military aid package to Ukraine.
The “CNN” network quoted three senior officials in President Joe Biden’s administration as saying that details of the new package were still being prepared.
According to NBC News, the new aid is expected to add more artillery and tens of thousands of bombs to help thwart Russian military action, especially in eastern Ukraine.
White House spokeswoman Zhen Zaki said on Tuesday that Biden and other leaders discussed providing additional weapons and security assistance to Ukrainian forces during a video conference dedicated to Ukraine.
On April 13, Biden unveiled a $ 800 million military aid package to Kiev, including helicopters, howitzers and armored carriers.
A senior Pentagon official said on Monday that the first shipments of US military aid to Ukraine had reached the country’s borders to be delivered to the Ukrainian military.
Washington has so far provided more than $ 3.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine under the Biden administration, not counting the new package expected.
