Warning not to charge the cell phone at night.. The reason is known

We all think that the best time to charge the phone is at night, but in reality it can negatively affect the battery life of the device over time and lead to problems with the device.

Recommendations for charging mobile battery

Huawei’s device makers say, “Don’t leave the phone connected to the charger for long periods of time or overnight.”

Manufacturers recommend keeping the battery charge between 30% and 70%, which is the best way to extend battery life. Many phones can detect the percentage of battery charge remaining through the settings, and Apple offers an advanced system for charging iPhone phones that keeps the charge percentage below 80%.

Fully discharging the battery to 0% should also be avoided as this maintains polarity and increases battery life.

How is a mobile battery charged?

Most smartphones run on lithium-ion batteries, and these batteries degrade over time no matter how you charge the phone because they work by transferring charge carriers between electrodes, and this process affects the battery’s components and damages its performance over time.

Battery charging up to 100% problem

IFixit’s Kevin Purdy provided an example to illustrate the topic of writing for the New York Times. “It’s very easy to take a sponge from dry to saturated, but a nearly saturated sponge has to make an effort to absorb more droplets of liquid, and some of the excess liquid remains on the surface of the sponge,” Purdy said. This assembly (the SEI solid electrolyte layer) forms in the battery, and This buildup reduces the overall capacity of the battery.

Danger of charging mobile phone at night

Apart from harming battery life, charging devices at night can be a health and safety concern if we don’t consider where we place our phone while charging. Charging usually heats up the phone, and if something goes wrong, flammable surfaces that come in contact with the phone can become very dangerous.

Paul Shaw, head of fire investigations at Staffordshire Rescue Squad, told the Guardian: “Phones should not be placed under pillows or charged in bed.

The so-called thermal runaway occurs in the battery, and the phone heats up a little, but this heat is not strong enough to affect hard surfaces or wooden tables.

This should be given a lot of importance, and if you want your device to have the best battery life in the long run, don’t leave your phone charging while you sleep.
