Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is currently in his country camp preparing for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
After playing in Liverpool’s match against Chelsea in the English Premier League, Salah joined the Egyptian national team camp after scoring a superb goal against Senegal goalkeeper Edward Mendi.
Despite the difficult period that the Egyptian national team is going through after the outbreak of corona virus infections in its ranks this week, Salah and his teammates decided to ease the atmosphere in different ways.
The 29-year-old has posted a video on his Instagram account. In it, Jamalek’s defender Mahmoud Hamdi “Al-Wensh” appears and plays the game of “Backgammon” with him.
Also, the Jamalek defender seemed to have succeeded in dropping the highest scoring player in the English Premier League, prompting Salah to bless him for saying “Congratulations on the 31st day”.
It comes on the heels of a historic night after Mohamed Salah announced his entry into the finalists for the 2021 FIFA World Player of the Year award presented by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).
Egyptian striker Lionel Messi of Argentina will compete with French star of the recent Golden Ball award Paris Saint-Germain and his Polish runner-up, Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich striker.
As the only player from the African continent to be shortlisted for the award twice in 1995 and 1996, Liberian George Weeh followed suit.
The former Italian player, Roma, was in the final list in 2018, but lost the award to Real Madrid’s Spanish star Luka Modric of Croatia as he was third behind Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo.
