On Tuesday, a US police officer narrowly escaped being killed by an investigator, and on Tuesday, a driver lost control of his car and ran off a highway in northern Virginia.
The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department said the incident was captured on the officer’s dash cam.
The car collided with another car next to it after the shocked policeman stopped it when he saw the car coming towards him in a hurry to flee from the spot.
According to Fairfax County Police News websiteThe driver of the derailed vehicle, a 17-year-old man, was speeding northbound on the highway before losing control of his vehicle.
“The BMW spun and crossed the interstate, striking another vehicle and then the officer’s vehicle,” the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department said. “The officer was almost killed.”
He added that the driver of the car that ran the wrong way was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital.
The teenage driver was charged with reckless driving, which can sometimes lead to jail time in the United States.
“The Fairfax County Police Department is relieved that this incident was not tragic,” the police department said.
“It’s an important reminder that life can surprise you at any moment, so it’s the driver’s responsibility to drive safely and arrive safely,” he added.
“Parents, talk to your teen drivers about the dangers and consequences of reckless driving,” he wrote in a tweet, including a video of the incident.
