Tensions escalated on Friday between Dutchman Max Verstappen and Britain’s Louis Hamilton two days before a battle at the 17th edition of the Formula One World Championships in the United States Grand Prix.
At the Austin circuit, the Dutch driver, Red Bull, described his British rival, the Mercedes driver, as a “stupid idiot” in the second round of free training.
World champion Hamilton was angry with Verstappen for refusing to let him cross a corner at the start of the second round of free training and almost knocking him off track. The Dutchman lifted his right hand from the steering wheel and gestured with his middle finger.

The Verstappen group complained on the radio that Hamilton was a “stupid idiot”.
Verstappen finished third in the second round after finishing third in the first round.
Hamilton said nothing about the incident, “Overall it was a good and fruitful day, but there is still work to be done.”
This tension triggers fierce competition among drivers this season as the 24-year-old seeks his first world title, the second, 36, wants his eighth title and Michael Schumacher has broken the record alliance with German legend.
With six points ahead of Harmilton, Verstappen leads six points before the end of the season.
