Raphael Varane will be out of the Manchester United squad for weeks with an injury as the squad’s injury crisis worsens as they prepare to face Arsenal next Sunday.
Manchester United, coached by coach Erik ten Hoag, will face Arsenal in their last match before the international break on Sunday and will be without many of their key players.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount both suffered injuries in the first week of the season, while newcomer Rasmus Hoyland is yet to make his first team appearance due to a back problem, British news agency PA Media explained.
With Tyrell Malaysia, Amad Diallo, Kobe Manu and Tom Heaton missing from the start of the season, Varane has now joined the injured list and will be out for some time.
Manchester United said in a statement on its official website on Wednesday: “Raphael Varane will miss Manchester United’s match against Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday due to injury.”
He added: “The French international came off in the first half during our 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday, an injury which is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.”
According to British news agency PA Media, Manchester United expect Varane to return in less than six weeks, the time frame expected by the media.
Varane has dealt with a number of injury problems since joining Manchester United in 2021 and will no doubt use the upcoming international break to work on his recovery.
