Ukrainian attacks have been renewed with demonstrations in the Russian capital, which caused an explosion in a business district near the Kremlin and shut down the capital’s airports, while Russian strikes have led to deaths in eastern Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry said three Ukrainian drones aimed at Moscow were destroyed, one of which crashed into a building in the center of the capital.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the drone crashed into a building under construction in the center of the capital early Wednesday.
Sobyanin said air defenses shot down a drone over the Moscow region on the sixth night of Ukrainian attacks on the capital.
On the other hand, Russian agency RIA Novosti reported that an explosion and smoke were heard in Moscow’s business district, 5 kilometers from the Kremlin.
Russian news agency Tass – citing unnamed officials – said Moscow airports had suspended flights early this morning.
Major airports across the Russian capital have repeatedly grounded inbound and outbound flights in recent days due to attacks by Ukrainian drones.
Reuters reported that a US State Department spokeswoman said her country did not encourage Ukrainian attacks with marches into Russia.
Died in Lehman
And in the Liman region of eastern Ukraine, three people were killed and two others were wounded as Russian strikes targeted two villages on Tuesday evening, announced by the Ukrainian governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kirilenko.
A post by the region’s governor on Telegram said the Russian attacks “killed 3 people and wounded one in Tursky, and another civilian was wounded in Saketny.”
For its part, the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office posted on Facebook “preliminary information that the invaders attacked two villages with artillery.”
facing the Black Sea
Meanwhile, Russia announced yesterday that it had destroyed two Ukrainian warships in the Black Sea in the latest conflict in the waterway since Moscow withdrew from a grain export deal.
Russia has previously bombed the infrastructure of Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea and the Danube, while Ukraine has attacked Russian ships in its waters and on the Crimean peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
The Russian Defense Ministry – in a Telegram application – said a Sukhoi SU-30 aircraft destroyed a “reconnaissance boat” belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces “in the area of Russian gas production facilities in the Black Sea”.
Later, the Russian ministry spoke about the destruction of the second boat, saying in a telegram that the American-made speedboat destroyed a landing party belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Moscow announced – last month – that it would treat any ship approaching Ukraine in the Black Sea as a potential military cargo ship after the collapse of the grain deal.
Southern Wars
In other field developments, Ukrainian General Staff spokesman Andriy Kovalev said his country’s forces had succeeded in their offensive in the Robotino region of Zaporizhia province (south).
A Ukrainian spokesman explained that his country’s forces advanced in the direction of Robotino and “adjusted their positions on the borders they reached.”
Commenting on these developments, the US national security adviser said today that Ukrainian forces “have won battles in the south of the country and we will support them”.
On the other hand, the Russian military website Rebar reported that Ukrainian forces are heavily concentrated in the northern part of Robotino and Russian forces are attacking Ukrainian reserve centers in the forested areas.
