English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday announced the appointment of Antonio Conte as the team’s new coach until the summer of 2023, a day after Nuno Esprito Santo was sacked.
“I am delighted to be training again and to do so with the ambition of becoming champions in a Premier League club again,” Conte said in a statement.
Yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur announced the departure of Nuno Espirido Santo from the London club in eighth place in the English Premier League after losing 3-0 to Manchester United at home.
Tottenham have won their first three matches in the league last August, but have lost 5 times since then and are currently 10 points ahead of Chelsea.
Nuno’s staff were also relieved of their duties and the club did not announce the succession of the Portuguese coach.
“I know how successful Nuno and his coaching staff want to be, and I’m sorry we had to make this decision,” Tottenham managing director Fabio Paradisi said in a statement.
He added: “Nono is a very polite man. We will always welcome him here. We want to thank him and his team and wish them all the best for the future.”
