The visit of the Emir of Qatar to Egypt is the first visit to sever diplomatic relations between the two countries since 2015, when Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Sharm attended the L-Sheikh Summit before the outbreak of the Gulf Crisis in 2017.
The trip to Cairo comes on the heels of several meetings between the Emir of Qatar and the Egyptian President in the Arab and foreign capitals since the signing of the Al-Ula Report in early 2021.
