The film made history for Yemen by participating in the Berlin International Film Festival, becoming the first Yemeni film to participate in this ancient festival.
The film also won the Amnesty International Award and was placed second in the Panorama category for best film thanks to audience votes.
The Exhausted won three international awards: Best Direction and Best Screenplay at the Valencia International Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Taipei Film Festival.
The film also participated in official competition at the Durban International Film Festival, and was officially nominated to compete for the Academy Award for Best International Film at the ninety-sixth session of the Yemen Awards.
The film has previously screened at the Sydney Film Festival and the Beijing International Film Festival.
The film project managed to attract international attention at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where a grant was awarded for the post-production development of the project in progress in the “Eastern Promises” category.
As part of the activities of the second session of the Red Sea International Film Festival, the film was one of the promising projects that participated in the screening program being held in the Red Sea Market, and was awarded $12,000 after showing parts of the film.
The Exhausted is a co-production between Yemen, Sudan and Saudi Arabia. It is directed and produced by Amr Kamal. The screenplay was co-written by Mazen Refaat and Mohsen Al-Khulaifi, Muhammad Al-Omda and Amjad Abu Al- Alaa is participating in the production of the film. Starring Khaled Hamdan, Abeer Muhammad, Sama Al-Omrani and Wissam Abdel Rahman.
