The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold gets a huge price cut – the same price as a regular smartphone

A few days ago, Xiaomi officially launched its second-generation foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. The device comes with a starting price of 8,999 Yuan (US$1335). The MIX Fold 2’s starting price is cheaper than the original Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold’s starting price of 9999 Yuan ($1483). However, with the arrival of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, the MIX Fold received a huge price cut. The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold now sells for 6,999 yuan ($1038), a price cut of 3,000 yuan ($445). Interestingly, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra retails for 6,999 Yuan ($1,038). So, Xiaomi is selling a foldable smartphone at the price of a regular flagship smartphone.

As for the base configuration, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold uses an 8.01-inch full screen. When the device is folded, the screen size is reduced to 6.52 inches. The smartphone comes with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Under the hood, it also houses a 5020mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging.

Although the hardware specifications of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold are not as advanced as the second generation, the software experience is similar to the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2. Both foldable smartphones come with MIUI optimized for foldable screens.

It is the first smartphone to use a liquid lens with bionic technology, a new technology similar to the “lens of the human eye” in a mobile phone. The flowing liquid is attached to an image to replace the traditional optical lens, sensing the change in focal length and focus. In this way, one lens can achieve zoom and macro functions simultaneously.
