On Wednesday, the Israeli military attacked al-Shifa Medical Complex, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, where more than two thousand people are still trapped, after violent clashes near the facility, which Israel accuses Hamas of using for military purposes. Intentions to deny movement.
In this case, a video which the publishers said depicted the shooting at the hospital went viral on social media. However, since the video is old from 2013 and was actually filmed in Egypt, the claim is false.
The video shows what appears to be a collapsed hospital, with gunshots heard in the background.
“Communication was cut off with the entire medical staff at the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza. The Zionists in the hospital opened heavy fire inside the hospital,” the accompanying comments said.
The video began circulating on Facebook and X, the day after the Israeli army announced that it had attacked the Shifa medical complex in the early hours of Wednesday.
Egypt in 2013
However, the video is old and has nothing to do with all of this, and searching through search engines shows that it was posted ten years ago on August 16, 2013, on the Egyptian “Rast Network” news page on YouTube. Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza denies any link to the attack.
An accompanying commentary noted that “on the day of the massacre there was heavy firing on prisoners at Rabah Hospital.”
On August 14, 2013, Egyptian security forces broke up two sit-ins by supporters of late President Mohamed Morsi in Nahda and Raba al-Adawiyya squares, resulting in hundreds of deaths, Agence France-Presse reported.
