The inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi Supercross Grand Prix for Motorcycles has successfully concluded its proceedings, with the Abu Dhabi Circuit World Championship taking place for the first time in the region at Yas Island at the Etihad Arena. The central square was transformed into a dirt track, igniting a competitive atmosphere.
The World Supercross Championships held in Abu Dhabi saw the participation of 40 of the best international Supercross racers who raced to win the chance to win the first edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Supercross, with rider Joey Savatki taking first place. In the section WSX (450 cm3), and competitor Max Anesti took first place in the category SX2 (250 cm3)
Division race winner Joey Savatjee commented WSX and leader of the championship standings: “Racing on a new track is always an exciting thing, and the experience exceeded my expectations today. In Abu Dhabi the crew managed to turn this closed hall into a unique track for dirt racing. “My start in the first two rounds today was very good, and in the third race it was in my favor. . The competition was very strong today and I am very happy to have achieved this victory.”
As Max Anesti said, the race winner SX2: “We really enjoyed today’s races in Abu Dhabi and I’m really happy to get this win, especially as it’s the first World Supercross Championship race in Abu Dhabi. The atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium was great thanks to the fans. “We are amazed by the attendance and popularity of the game here and look forward to seeing it grow even more.”

The global event also saw the participation of an elite group of emerging talent in motorcycle sports in the UAE, where 20 young racers aged 7 to 13 from different parts of the Emirates took part in designated races for their category. International and Participating Teams from various parts of the Emirates showcased their skills and abilities in front of a competitive audience, with 10 young drivers competing in the 85cc category and ten others in the 65cc category.
The tremendous success of the Abu Dhabi Supercross Grand Prix reinforces Abu Dhabi’s leadership position as a top destination for major international sporting events, and confirms the growing interest and demand for racing sports in the region.

The Etihad Arena saw a unique transformation and an unprecedented logistical feat to build the track in preparation for this global event. The process of building the track took four days, during which crews used 16 machines to load and level the dirt and transport 7,000 tonnes. The dirt was transported, they were selected and obtained from within the country. It was selected after ensuring that all requirements related to providing interesting matches and meeting all safety and security conditions were met.
