The law indicated that the General Commission for Meteorology is a public service organization with legal personality and reporting to the competent minister. Its main headquarters is in Cairo, and it is allowed to establish branches by decision of its board of directors. In the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Pursuant to the Act, the Authority shall administer the Meteorological Service and propose general policy in this field at the level of the Republic, and may take such measures as may be necessary to achieve this.
1- The Commission is responsible for providing all local, regional and international levels, and broadcasting them in various media, in accordance with the local, regional and international laws, regulations and procedures followed by the State and the best standards recognized by the Meteorological Organization for all types and purposes.
2 – Issuance of licenses and approvals necessary to carry out any activity in the field of meteorology and work on the contribution of the private sector in the provision and dissemination of meteorological services without prejudice to the needs of national security.
3- Supervise the establishment and preparation of meteorological and marine weather stations necessary for the activities of all relevant parties, civil society organizations, legal and natural persons.
4- To organize the activities of the capture, distribution and exchange of meteorological information and international broadcasting, in order to enable the Authority to achieve its objectives and to implement its international obligations to the Organization.
5 – Purchase and support of meteorological observation stations or their parts of all kinds

6- Study and analyze the accidents that occur in the country as a result of weather changes, identify their causes, coordinate with the relevant authorities and work to avoid them in the future.
7- Establishment of specialized research centers and institutes in the field of meteorology and training centers on various meteorological activities in accordance with the conditions and procedures provided for by the decision of the competent minister after the approval of the board of directors.
8- To contribute to the promotion of scientific research in the field of meteorology and to assist all parties involved in achieving this goal.
9- Creating and approving the technical specifications of devices and stations that any legal or natural person wishes to purchase for research purposes and calibrating those devices and stations to ensure the validity of the data and measurements they make to ensure the integrity of the research. 10 – To prepare and train all technicians, professionals and administrators required for various activities in the field of meteorology, exchange scientific missions and foreign missions and define training programs in coordination with the organization and relevant authorities.
11 – Issuance of licenses and certificates for qualification and training to students of training centers and research institutes affiliated to the Commission after the approval of the Commission’s examination results.
12- Taking into account the provisions of the Civil Service Act promulgated by Act No. 81 of 2016, seeking the assistance of experts necessary to assist the Authority in achieving its objectives.
13- Supervise the activities of private agencies and civil society organizations working in the field of meteorology, coordinate and work with the relevant authorities to ensure the validity of the instruments used and the correctness of the data and measurements they make. To promote and promote meteorological science and disseminate them in the country.
14- Representing the country in international organizations, organizations, federations, conferences and meetings related to meteorological matters or in activities involving some of these matters, in coordination with the relevant authorities, pursuing aspects of scientific development and activities Meteorology.
15- In accordance with international and regional agreements and recognized agreements of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in order not to conflict with the needs of national security, to carry out the obligations of the state in the field of meteorology and to propose the conclusion of agreements with foreign countries or international and regional organizations, after coordinating with the relevant authorities.
16- Preparation and updating of Climatic Data Register and provision of Climatic Averages
