American actress Lily Gladstone said that the Martin Scorsese-directed film “Killers of the Moon – Killers of the Moonflower” revolved around the murders of Native Americans in Oklahoma in the 1920s, and she continued to say that the Osage tribal people, who are the focus of the film, welcomed the events as painful.
Gladstone said, “The film is a celebration of the Redskins’ allegory, but it presents the audience with poignant and harrowing events.”
She added, “I’ve heard from Osage tribal women that their strength lies in their ability to watch the film together and then comment. They expressed their joy about it and the story coming to light.”
Based on the book of the same name by David Gran, the film tells the story of the Osage tribe who killed them in order to wrest oil rights that would make them rich.
The film also deals with the story of a white man played by Leonardo DiCaprio who marries his Osage wife played by Lily Gladstone. A white man pressured by his uncle, played by Robert De Niro, takes part in a murder plot even though he loves his wife and children.
DiCaprio said the film focused in some way on a “very complicated but honest love story”. “These events have already happened,” he said.
The film’s director, Scorsese, focused primarily on the FBI investigators who worked on the case.
DiCaprio said that the purpose of this film is to show the truth.
