The first phase of securing a safe oil deposit in Yemen is just beginning

Today, the first rescue operations for a safe oil reservoir off the coast of Yemen’s al-Hodeidah governorate were launched by United Nations technical teams to avoid an oil and environmental disaster in the region.

The United Nations Office in Yemen, through its account on the social network “Twitter”, confirmed that the ship “Ndeavor” arrived with a technical team at the beach of “Ras Issa” in Al-Hodeida Governorate, “Western Yemen”. Equipped with technical equipment and supplies to start surgery.

According to the United Nations, technical teams will begin safety checks and preparations for the next phase of the rescue operation, as the ship (Ndeavor) is fully prepared for the arduous task, which will first begin with creating a safe working environment.

The move is in the interest of protecting the world from oil spills and underlines the importance of completing the remaining additional financing, which is critical to ending operations and offloading approximately 1.14 million barrels of oil.

On the other hand, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council has renewed its call to the international community to support efforts to restore peace, and to exert more pressure on the Houthi militias and their supporters to end the coup. The state and its institutions are not merely a temporary truce following the continuation of the war.

On the ground, Yemeni army forces and Houthi fighters exchanged bodies of 52 dead from both sides in al-Jawf governorate in the past few hours, while the media center of Taiz Achsin reported violent clashes between Yemenis. Army forces and Houthi fighters in Makbana district, west of Taiz, early today.
