The number of followers of this year’s Emmy Awards has risen to a record low of 7.4 million viewers who watched the event on television last year, but it is still low.
Although the number of visitors allowed was limited by health measures, the return of the stars to the red carpet allowed an improvement in the performance of the competition compared to last year’s edition, which took place in a completely virtual format, and the number of followers increased by 16% compared to the lowest level recorded on concert 2020 on television, according to CBS data.
“Overall, a great evening for TV and a fantastic site to start a new season,” says the broadcaster’s statement.
However, the number of viewers on Sunday evening was the third worst show, attracting more than ten million TV viewers in 2018.
The bulk of the 73rd Emmy Awards went to The Crown and Ted Lasso, confirming the series’ dominance of on-demand video platforms for Netflix and Apple TV +.
The only award given to a major American television channel was given to “NBC” for the show “Saturday Night Live”, while “CBS” returned with nostalgia.
The Hollywood Reporter, who specializes in the subject, considered the situation on “CBS” to be “the broadcaster of his funeral” and sent the torch to cable television streaming.
