The Sharjah International Institute for Literary Rights has announced the appointment of Tamar Saeed as the agency’s new director of literary rights and translation.
Since its inception in 2020, the institute has succeeded in promoting communication between publishers, authors, translators, illustrators and other actors in the literary and intellectual field, an initiative of the Sharjah Book Authority, headed by Sheikha Bodur bint Sultan Al Qasimi. And helped many works reach global markets.
Within the framework of its work, the organization is committed to protecting the rights of publishers and writers, stimulating the Arabic publishing market, and promoting Arabic literary and cultural content globally.
Tamer Said’s priorities are to intensify the agency’s initiatives in the fields of copyright and translation throughout the Arab world, and to increase its presence in cultural and scientific aspects. Further, “the agency will work to meet these needs and create a dynamic cultural system to develop and expand the Arabic publishing industry by introducing more international readers to Arabic culture and literature.”
It is to be noted that Tamar Saeed previously served as General Manager of Kalimat Group in UAE for more than 12 years.
