Soul Platform has revealed that a group of highly acclaimed international artistes will be participating in the Soul DXB Festival in partnership with Mass Appeal Artistic Production Company. The Hop 50 initiative in the Arab world, which will kick off between December 8-10. Next December in the Dubai Design District of Sol Platform’s strategic partner, TECOM Group.

This year, the festival commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the art of hip-hop. It hosts an elite group of the region’s and the world’s brightest stars and some of the hip-hop world’s most famous figures, such as Busta Rhymes, are set to appear on the final night on Sunday, December 10.

Busta Rhymes has been popular since the 1980s as one of the first hip-hop artists. He has recorded a long list of songs, including songs with Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Lil Wayne.

Saturday, December 9 will see the appearance of international star Jadakis alongside Top Nwigwe and legend Big Daddy Kane on the festival’s main stage for the first time at the Emirates. Sudanese artist Odisi will also perform during the festival and is known for mixing elements of jazz, funk and go-go with hip-hop. This is apart from the popular hip-hop DJ, DJ Shadow. Cairo-based Sudanese artist Nadine Al-Roubi will also take the main stage.

On Sunday, December 10, the festival features international artist Samba the Great; Omar Offendum, Syrian rapper and poet.

This year, the event will witness the UAE Mixtape Concert, a showcase for rappers from the region: The Recipe, Tak and Dayab Santo.

and A’Y, Maxi Z and Mo Flow, hosted by Def Jam’s Mazzy.

Organized with the support of its partners Dubai Design District and Dubai Calendar, the festival contributes to promoting cultural, social and business activities across the region.
