Gary Neville has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo is not guaranteed a place in Manchester City’s starting line-up in the current situation.
Neville has always been a fan of Ronaldo, winning three consecutive Premier League titles with the Portuguese during his playing days, and was one of the supporters of Don returning to the team at the start of the season.
Neville, a former Manchester United player, spoke with former Manchester City player and fellow analyst Micah Richards. “LADbible TV”Ronaldo currently has a chance to enter the City squad.
Editor’s Choices
Despite Carrie’s love for Don, the Portuguese star has only scored once in his last 10 games for United, and Neville has admitted that this will not be enough to join Pep Cardiola’s squad.
Neville said: “No Manchester United player will be included in the starting line-up for Man City.
He continued: “I can be more honest than every player in Robin Diaz, Aymerich LaBorde, Joao Cancello, Kyle Walker, United’s Quartet Defense.”
He continued, “The midfield is better with Fernando and Rodrigo than the United defensive midfielders.”
“I think only Bruno Fernandez can play for Manchester City,” he explained.
While Neville was adamant in his choices, Richards was reluctant to sweep City’s players, finding that Ronaldo might fit into Cardiola’s system.
He said: “I will play with a 4-2-3-1 plan because Ronaldo needs to be on the team and Cristiano needs to be at the front line.”
He added, “I’m going to put Rodri on the bench, I’m going to play two in midfield, I’m going to do that to get Ronaldo.”
Manchester United are due to visit Manchester City on Sunday in the 28th round of the English Premier League.
