A report by Spanish newspaper “Sport”, citing multiple sources, has sparked surprise as Lionel Messi’s return to Barcelona is possible if his current club Inter Miami fails to qualify for the finals of the American League Championship. The Catalan will force the club to apply for a “fleet” in the contract next winter’s transfer window in January.
The report confirmed that Barcelona are yet to take any serious action on the deal, but are currently looking into the matter, taking into account their financial situation before signing Messi.
Messi missed the recent participation with Inter Miami due to injury, which led to a decline in the team’s results, and his participation in the “playoff” stage became doubtful.
Inter Miami fell to last place in the Eastern Conference with 33 points, 5 points away from the qualification spots for the knockout rounds, with 3 rounds remaining in the preliminary round.
“Mundo Deportivo” newspaper quoted Inter Miami president Jorge Mas as saying that he has promised Messi “to do everything possible in the coming years” so that he can return and say goodbye to his fans at the “Camp Nou”, the historic stadium of the Spanish club.
Mas added: “Inter Miami can go there or play a friendly with Barcelona.”
He continued: “I always wanted to sign a contract with Messi. Everyone told me I was crazy because I was thinking about him coming to Inter Miami.”
After announcing his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, Leo announced that he has decided to move to the team owned by English football legend David Beckham.
The 35-year-old Argentine striker has spent the last two seasons at French club Saint-Germain, the shirt he has worn for most of his football career, after moving from Barcelona in 2021.
