Salman al-Malik, president of the Saudi Al-Hasm Club, has responded to reports that his club are in talks to sign Jamal’s current Egyptian coach, Frenchman Patrice Cartero, to lead the upcoming Saudi squad. Period.
Al-Hasm fired its Portuguese coach Helder Cristovo due to a decline in results and hopes to sign a new coach in the near future.
Al-Malik said in a televised statement on Sunday: “Carteron is a fantastic coach, having previously coached twice in Saudi Arabia and has had achievements in Africa, but we have a certain budget that cannot be surpassed, especially in the semi-finals.”
He added: “Not only Al-Hasm, Cardron is one of the names given to many Saudi clubs, but so far we have not made any concessions to coach Cardron, and we have files from other coaches of different nationalities. And these are formal negotiations with other technical staff, not Carteron.
He pointed out that the club’s management was in talks with Egyptian players: “Last season we had previous official talks with the Al-Ahly and Jamalek clubs to include Hussein al-Shahd and Youssef Obama. New in new contracts, and we can not. Negotiate with any player without mentioning the management of his club.
Carteron’s contract with Jamalek lasts until 2024.
Cardron has led the team since last March, winning 25 of 34 matches and losing just three.
Cartron was crowned with Jamal in the Egyptian League last season.
