Nintendo recently announced a special edition Switch, powered by nostalgia. The new colorway is called Mario Red Edition, and it’s a tribute to one of Nintendo’s most iconic video game characters.
The system will consist of a controller, docking station and Joy-Con controllers, all in Mario’s famous red color. At the back of the dock, there’s also a small silhouette of Mario jumping into action. Coins hidden inside.

The new design will only be available in the OLED model, which is expected. The OLED version of the Switch is the company’s flagship model, and we’ve already seen such special editions. Nintendo has been known to release custom controllers as tie-ins with upcoming games – and with the official release of Super Mario Bros. Coming in October, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company create a bit of a buzz with this Mario-themed colorway.
Along with that, we also saw the release of Super Mario Bros. In April, it’s been a really big year for Mario and the gang. Mario Red Edition will be available for purchase from the Official Nintendo Store and Best Buy. It is currently available for pre-order and costs $350. Standard OLED model. It is expected to start shipping in October.
