Naughty Dog, the studio that developed the game, announced the announcement The Last of UsHe decided to halt development of The Last of Us Online, saying in a statement, “We realize that many of you have been anticipating news about the project we call The Last of Us Online. There is no easy way. It: We have taken the very difficult decision to stop development. “That game.

The studio previously described the multiplayer game as a “fresh, new experience,” rooted in their passion for delivering exciting stories, characters, and gameplay. “The team was excited about the direction we were going,” say the Last of Us developers. There was a clear vision for the project. Already improving the game and starting to speed up production, it became clear that they had bitten off more than they could chew.

In 2022, the studio shared some concept art from its upcoming project, but hasn’t offered any significant updates since then. However, a year later, there has been no update, and after the PlayStation Showcase in May, the studio admitted it still needed… time to work and they still couldn’t provide details.

Shortly after, Bloomberg announced that the studio had reassigned developers who had worked on the project to other teams and was reevaluating its feasibility, adding that the company realized “we have to put everything into publishing and supporting The Last of Us online. Our studio resources will support post-release content for years to come.” “Therefore, we had two paths: become a live-services-only game studio or continue to focus on the narrative single-player games that have defined Naughty Dog’s legacy.” He chose the latter.

The studio says it’s working on more than one new single-player title and will share more details later.
