The Dubai Sports Council has announced the launch of the first ever “Dubai Open Championship for Artistic Gymnastics Academies” in Dubai, which aims to boost efforts to attract and develop talent in the sport of artistic gymnastics. “Stamina 11 Academy” on 24th of this month, more than 600 male and female players will participate. This happened in the presence of Ahmed Salem Al-Mahri, Director of Sports Development Department and Farah Shawar, Managing Director of “Stamina 11 Academy”, during a press conference held at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters. Among the participants of the competition are representatives of clubs, sports academies and training centers specializing in gymnastics.
Al-Mahri said: “We are delighted to be organizing the tournament for the first time, and it falls within the framework of the Dubai Government’s Plan for 2033 and the Dubai Sports Council’s policy of attracting and developing sporting talent. The competition will be a positive step towards supporting the emerging talent in this ancient Olympic sport to produce Olympic champions and we hope that the number of participants will increase in the next editions.
For her part, Farah Shawar said: “I thank the Dubai Sports Council for its continued efforts in developing the sports sector and its support for the sport of gymnastics. I also thank the competition sponsors for supporting this event. We are delighted to launch this competition to attract and develop sports talent. It will be held on 24 November. Date starts and continues throughout the year.Three days, in which 600 male and female players from 10 different academies participate.They are classified according to six technical levels.Competition in eight age groups ranging from six years to 14 years.
Farah added: “The competition aims to provide a common platform for all gymnastics academies to participate and compete, and to provide an opportunity for male and female athletes from the academies to highlight their skills and increase opportunities to interact with different levels.”
• The competition is conducted in 8 age groups from 6 years to 14 years.
