Microsoft is gearing up to unveil its artificial intelligence chip next month in an effort to keep costs down.
According to CNBC Arabia, the company co-founded by billionaire Bill Gates has been trying to develop the chip for years.
Microsoft’s chip is planned to target AI-related features in data center servers and enterprise applications.
Microsoft is scheduled to unveil its new chip at its annual developers conference.
The chip could help Microsoft reduce its dependence on Nvidia, which provides most of the graphics processing units needed to train language models and its work on artificial intelligence.
In the UBS August note, the limitation in the number of GPUs Microsoft has access to is a real issue and could affect its ability to generate revenue streams from AI next year.
The bank emphasized that the move could reduce these risks if Microsoft could develop its own chips.
Microsoft has confirmed that it will protect buyers of its artificial intelligence-related products against intellectual property infringement claims. Aim to create content based on existing work.
“Microsoft CoPilot’s proprietary rights commitment protects customers as long as we use the controls and content filtering built into our products,” said Hussain Nubar, the company’s general counsel for legal affairs.
Microsoft pledged to pay fines and remedies and said it has taken steps to ensure CoPilot respects intellectual property rights.
