Juventus beat Fiorentina 1-0 in the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Dusan Vilhovich could not make a mark on his first return to the club’s stadium, since he moved to Juventus in January, and the fans shouted at him every time he touched the ball.

Fiorentina had the best party in the first half, and Jonathan Icon hit the ball wide, while Vilahovic disappeared despite the big gaps.

Vlahovic had a very dangerous chance in the second half, but he failed to put the ball over goalkeeper Pietro Terrazzano.

Fiorentina appeared to be close to snatching victory ahead of next month’s match in Turin, and Jonah attacked Econ’s position before punishing its host.

Juan Quadrato crossed for Vilahovic, but Venotti reached the ball quickly and gave Juventus an undeserved victory.

“He (Vilahovich) needs to improve the way he plays with the team.

“It’s not easy to win in Florence (by injury) without many players. We have shown evidence of maturity.”

“We are making slow progress and the team is more confident,” he said.
