On Monday, Gilad Erdan, Israel’s representative to the United Nations, attacked its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, saying he had lost his moral compass after he criticized the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Erden said in a post
He continued, “You’ve lost your moral compass and you can’t be Secretary-General for another minute.”
He pointed out that any representative of the United Nations who makes false and immoral comparisons proves that he is suffering from “moral rot”, as he called it.
Earlier on Monday, the United Nations Secretary-General announced that the United Nations and its partners had launched a $1.2 billion humanitarian aid appeal for 2.7 million Palestinians.
Guterres added that Gaza has become a graveyard for children as hundreds of women and boys are killed or injured daily, and expressed his deep concern over the clear violations of international law in Gaza.
This is not the first time Guterres has come under fire and criticism from Israel for his stance on the Gaza war.
On October 24, Israel called on Guterres to resign immediately, while its Foreign Minister Eli Cohen refused to meet with him, saying that the Hamas attack did not come out of nowhere.
For the 31st consecutive day, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of over 10,022 Palestinians, including 4,104 children and 2,641 women, and over 25,000 wounded.
