(MENAFN- Youm7) Apple’s first mixed-reality headset is scheduled for release this spring and is expected to ship in 2023. However, it could face challenges for the headset as Apple expects issues to crop up during the manufacturing process. The release of the headset may be delayed.
The Wall Street Journal recently provided an update on the Apple AirPods, including already widely discussed details such as the rumored $3,000 price tag and external battery.
Additionally, the report indicates that Apple is aware of potential manufacturing issues for the device.
According to a report by informed sources, production issues are delaying the production of the earphone, which is now scheduled to start in September.
The report did not provide further details on the specific issue.
How about an Apple headset?
The initial plan was to connect the headset wirelessly to a base station and handle the heavy computing required. However, Jony Ive, Apple’s vice president of industrial design, reportedly rejected the idea in the early stages.
Notably, the latest version of the headset is very similar to ski goggles as it completely surrounds the user’s eyes for an immersive experience and has cameras on the outside so they can see the world outside on the headset.
There will be an external battery pack, which magnetically attaches to the headset, and how to attach the battery pack to iPhones using MagSafe.
Leaks indicate that the upcoming Apple headset outperforms its rivals in terms of capabilities, as well as offering improved performance and immersion compared to rival products such as Facebook parent company Meta’s Quest Pro headset.
The team working on the speaker had planned to release it several times over the past few years.
However, they faced obstacles such as ensuring that the software worked seamlessly with the hardware, which caused delays.
Availability of Apple headphones may also be limited due to manufacturing issues.
Reports indicate that the first shipment of 2023 may only consist of 200,000 to 300,000 D units, a figure likely to drop if there are any production issues.
