Switzerland and Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, who signed with him at the winter transfer market last month, suffered a thigh injury, his club announced on Monday, which will keep him out of action for almost three weeks.
Juventus issued a statement saying, “The player’s recovery period is about 20 days.”
Zakaria was injured before the end of the first half (3-2) of his team’s game against Emboli in the local league on Saturday, and he was unable to finish it.
Juventus have suffered a number of injuries in their squads, most notably winger Federico Cesa, American midfielder Stone McKinney, senior defender Giorgio Cilini and Argentine striker Paolo Thibala.
After volatile results at the start of the current season, Juventus have advanced to the league table and are currently in fourth place, just 7 points behind leaders Napoli and Milan.
Zakaria is expected to return to the old women’s squad for his team’s match against Inter after the international window at the end of next March.
