Today, Thursday, Huawei announced the third generation of its foldable smartphone (Huawei Mate X) during a special event in China.
The new (Huawei Mate X3) phone is lighter than its competitors as it weighs around 240 grams, which is 24 grams less than the (Galaxy Z Fold4) phone from Samsung. The thickness of the phone when open is not more than 5.3 mm.
The foldable book-shaped phone has two screens running at a frequency of 120Hz, and the outer screen measures 6.4 inches and has a resolution of 2,504 x 1,080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20.9:9. As for the internal screen, it measures 7.85 inches and has a resolution of 2,496 x 2,224 pixels, with an aspect ratio of 8:7.1.
The (Huawei Mate X3) phone is water and dust resistant to IPX8 standard just like the (Galaxy Z Fold 4) phone. It is the first non-Samsung foldable smartphone to support water resistance. The phone also has two-way communication via satellite.
The new Huawei phone offers three 50-megapixel main rear cameras with f / 1.8 lens slot, 13 megapixels per second for ultra-wide photography with f / 2.2 lens slot and a third 12 megapixels dedicated to depth photography with 5x zoom rate. . As for the front camera, it comes with a resolution of 8 megapixels.
Software-wise, the (Huawei Mate X3) phone runs on Huawei’s Harmony OS 3.1 operating system.
The phone has an octa-core (Snapdragon 8 Plus, Generation 1) Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm. It also has 12GB RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB internal storage.
It should be noted that the phone only supports 4G LTE networks as the company is restricted from buying 5G modems.
The phone is powered by a 4,800 mAh battery that supports fast wired charging technology with a capacity of 66 watts and wireless charging with a capacity of 50 watts.
The phone (Huawei Mate X3) will reportedly be sold only in China (no word on when it will be launched in global markets). The 256GB option will sell for $1,999, the 512GB option for $2,050, and the 1TB option for $2,340.
Notably, Huawei announced other products during its special event: (Huawei P60) Huawei P60, (Huawei P60 Pro) Huawei P60 Pro and (Huawei P60 Art) the new (P60) P60 series Huawei P60 Art.
