Holland won the European Player of the Year award

Date:

Norwegian striker for Manchester City, Erling Holland, won the European Player of the Year award after playing a key role in achieving the domestic league, Champions League and domestic cup treble.

Haaland made an impressive start to last season with City, scoring 52 goals in all competitions, including 39 in the English Premier League, helping Spanish coach Pep Guardiola’s side to a historic treble.

The 23-year-old has surpassed his Belgian team-mate Kevin De Bruyne and Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who recently moved to America’s Inter Miami and recently won the World Cup.

“I’m living the dream,” Holland said after receiving his award. “It was my dream when I was young, so to do it with my teammates is special.”

On the other hand, Spain’s Aidana Bonmati won the European Player of the Year award after winning the Women’s Champions League with her Barcelona team, and later won the World Cup with her country, in which she also won the Player of the Year award.

After receiving his award, the Spanish star urged to address the forced kissing scandal that is still rocking the world of Spanish football.

“We cannot allow abuse of power,” she said, dedicating her award to “Jennifer Hermoso and all the women who suffer.”

After her country won the Women’s World Cup, Rubiales was suspended for 90 days by the international federation for kissing a player on the lips without her permission.

Spain’s Pep Guardiola won the manager’s award for Manchester City’s first ever Champions League title.

At the women’s level, Dutch player Sarina Wegman, who recently led the England national team to the finals of the Women’s World Cup, won the best coach award before dedicating her award to all the players of the Spanish national team.

“We all know the problems surrounding the Spanish team and it hurts me a lot as a coach, as a mother of two daughters and as a wife,” Wegmann said after receiving her award.

He continued: “There is still a long way to go in women’s football and in society, and I would like to dedicate this award to the Spanish national team for their outstanding performance at the World Cup.”
