Mental health awareness for children and adolescents, targeting community leaders and parents, identifying child and adolescent psychological changes and relationships, and the effects of excessive use of the Internet on the brain were discussed at the conference. Providing psychological support services in governorates affected by the shortage of mental health services, in the program of the General Secretariat for Mental Health.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hosam Abdel Kafar, said the conference will feature a number of lectures and workshops on the symptoms and psychological disorders of children and adolescents, with the participation of specialized professors from various Egyptian universities, in addition to mental training. Health professionals and specialists related to diagnosing and treating the psychological symptoms of children and adolescents and how to treat them.
Abdel Kafer pointed out that the political leadership is focusing more on the mental health file of children and adolescents and is working to develop the capabilities of mental health care providers.
During the conference, Dr. Manen Abdel Maqsood, General Secretary of the Psychiatric Secretariat of the Ministry of Health and Population, announced the provision of specialized medical services in the field of mental health for children and adolescents through 80,000 consultations annually. Republic at the level of governorates through hospitals and centers affiliated with the General Secretariat for Mental and Addiction Treatment.
The conference was attended by Dr. Ismail, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea Governorate and Maj. Gen. Osama Al-Baih, Chairman of the Hurghada City Council.
