According to the Association of Ophthalmologists, there are many causes of eye pain, the first of which is called vision disorders, ie vision or farsightedness or presbyopia (gradual loss of the eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects).
The association added that eye pain can be caused by external stimuli such as viruses, bacteria, fungi or UV rays, dust and dry air.
Examples of these infections are: conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis (inflammation of the middle vascular layer of the eye), and inflammation of the sebaceous gland at the tip of the eyelid.
In any case, an ophthalmologist should be approached to determine the true cause of the eye pain, especially if the pain is severe, or accompanied by other symptoms such as a burning sensation or tingling sensation in the eye.
