Hackers can use certain apps on Android systems to spy on users through the microphone or camera without the phone owners knowing, which is why Google has built technologies into Android systems to alert users when this happens.
New technologies in Android 12 detect any serious activity on your Android phone, so check your settings to make sure you have the feature enabled.
According to The Sun, when the technology is enabled, the user will notice that it usually appears in green in the top-right corner of the screen, and notifications appear as either a small microphone icon or a camera icon — sometimes both. This indicates that the app is currently using the microphone or camera, and you can click the icon to find out more information.
It lets you quickly and easily see which apps are using your personal data, so if you suspect an app is spying on you, it’s easy to block access to your camera or microphone in seconds.
Using the new privacy dashboard, users will get a simple and clear timeline view of the last 24 hours of location, microphone and camera access, Google said.
Some apps use a camera or microphone, but if the warning icon appears at odd times or is associated with an app the user isn’t running, it could be spying, in which case it’s important to deny access permissions. Apply and inquire about what happens.
