Expected to announce Google It announced various hardware and software improvements at its annual developer conference Google I/O 2023 on 10 May.
During the event, the tech giant is likely to launch the Pixel 7a mid-range smartphone with Android 14 operating system.
It is also said that the company will launch the Pixel tablet at the event.
The long-awaited tablet was teased by Google last year during its I/O 2022 conference.
However, the Pixel tablet is yet to receive a release date and is expected to launch in 2023.
According to a report by 9to5Google, the upcoming tablet has achieved FCC certification.
Like the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel Tablet is tuned for broadband (UWP) connectivity, the FCC listing revealed.
What is an FCC listing?
Companies that manufacture devices with wireless connectivity must be approved by various regulatory bodies around the world to bring them to market.
The FCC is a US-based regulatory agency that also certifies wireless-enabled devices.
According to the report, a new device developed by Google has appeared in the FCC database. The device came with model number GTU8P.
Google’s latest product is listed with three connectivity standards – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and UWB.
With no mobile connectivity, the GTU8P is expected to be a Google Pixel tablet.
Here’s how you’ll use Google UWB on a Pixel tablet
UWB connectivity on the Pixel series allows owners to use their phone as a digital car key.
However, Google may be planning to use UWB on the Pixel tablet to work with its “tap to transfer” system.
Google is working on this feature for Android, which is already available in the Apple ecosystem.
This feature allows iPhone users to “handover” media to the HomePod.
The report says the company is also working on a new Nest speaker, which may include UWB hardware.
The report doesn’t say whether the Pixel Tablet’s UWB support will be designed to receive signals (send music directly from their phone to the tablet), send them (send music from the tablet to the speaker), or both.
Google may also use UWB for its upcoming Finder network.
This feature helps users locate lost tools/items more accurately.
Pixel tablet battery details
Rumors also suggest that the Pixel tablet will support 18W charging.
The upcoming tablet is likely to come with a docking station that can support 30W chargers.
The charging dock should also function as a speakerphone.
This feature helps you turn your Pixel tablet into a smart display.
