Lesnar decided to leave the WWE in 2004 to play in the NFL before WrestleMania 20.

Angle expressed his advice to his colleague Lesnar to wait until the WrestleMania offer was available, but insisted that his colleague did not listen to that advice and told Vince McMahon of his plans.
Engel said in a statement on the website Sportskita,: “Brock Lesnar spoke to me personally about WrestleMania a month ago and told me that he wanted to try to play in the NFL and that he did not like the schedule that was assigned to him annually in the WWE.”

He continued, “He told me that he would have experience with the Minnesota Vikings (American football team) and that he had already been in contact with management.”
Engel added, “He asked me, ‘What should I do? Should I tell Vince McMahon or should I wait?’ I said. ”
Angle pointed out that Lesnar did not listen to his advice, and quickly told Vince McMahon his plan to leave the club to enjoy the experience of American football.
