Yesterday, Flydubai and the American company Boeing announced an agreement in which Flydubai committed to purchase 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with a total value of $11 billion (about 40.4 billion dirhams). The company is diversifying its fleet by operating wide-body aircraft.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Maktoum said: “In 2008, when we placed our first order for 50 aircraft (Boeing 737), we believed that (FlyDubai) would play an important role in supporting Dubai as a global aviation hub. “Today we are proud to see Flydubai continue to grow and tackle the challenges of travel,” he added. His Highness continued: “Today’s order reaffirms Flydubai’s commitment to helping more people travel on its growing network. The more fuel-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliner will allow Flydubai to expand its reach and meet the growing demand for existing seats. In turn, Al Caid said, “Innovation is at the core of everything we do at Flydubai and we are committed to delivering the right product at the right time to meet the changing needs of the market and customers.”
