Expo hosts “Shandong Week” to facilitate economic and technological exchange

On March 22, Chinese and Emirati officials opened the week of “Shandong” in “Expo Dubai” with the key words they delivered on this occasion, under the slogan “Homeland of Innovation is the starting point of the Silk Road”.

The event opened with live broadcasts via the Internet, field presence and communication between Jinan, Shandong Province and Dubai.

The seminar on Economic and Trade Cooperation held on the same day highlighted practical results and cooperation in key areas of macroeconomics, logistics, petrochemicals and photovoltaic power generation.

Ali Al Tahiri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, said: “Shandong is a major economic province in China, and the UAE and Shandong have established extensive and in-depth cooperation in infrastructure, tourism, food and energy.

Chinese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Ni Jian said the cooperation with Shandong was a key part of the Sino-United Arab Emirates cooperation. In 2021, trade volume between Shandong and the United Arab Emirates was approximately $ 8.3 billion, an increase of 71.5% year-on-year. Well known companies in Shandong have invested in business in the United Arab Emirates.

Hamad Bhumim, President and CEO of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that the United Arab Emirates, particularly Dubai, is a strategic trading hub comprising of about 3,400 Chinese companies.

Xi Jinping, Deputy Governor of Shandong Province, expressed his hope to enhance practical cooperation in technological innovation, investment, trade, financial services, culture and the arts, and epidemic prevention and control.

The seminar signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and reached strategic cooperation with the East African Trade and Logistics Center, the Ghana Petroleum Refinery and Chemicals EPC Project. Overseas tire depot in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai 10MW photovoltaic power generation project and other major economic and trade cooperation achievements.
