Everything you need to know about getting an alcohol license in Dubai

As a reminder, the Emirati law requiring drinkers to have a license has been repealed. Also, drinking alcohol is no longer considered a crime.

If you want to buy or own wine in Dubai you will still need a license

You must be a non-Muslim and over 21 years of age. To get a license, all you have to do is go to one of your Emirates ID, Africa-East or MMI stores and apply for it. Employees will take care of this, but it usually takes up to 4 weeks to get a license, and AED 270 costs.

Tourists who want to buy liquor in Dubai will also have to apply for a license, but this will be a limited license for 30 days at a time. This will be issued when the passport is issued, but not for visa holders residing in the Emirates. Once you get your license, you can buy wine at the store.
