Dubai, September 2, 2017 – The UAE National Football Team squad today left for Zagreb, Croatia for an outdoor camp that will run until the twelfth of this month.
The camp will be held within FIFA days as part of a program to prepare the UAE national team for the second round of joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup finals starting next November. The team will play in the eighth group with Bahrain, the winner of the two matches between Yemen and Sri Lanka, and Nepal with Laos.
During its camp, the United Arab Emirates national team is set to play a friendly international match against the Costa Rica national team on September 12.
Portuguese coach Paulo Bento, the coach of the United Arab Emirates national team, selected 28 players to attend the camp: Khaled Issa, Khaled Al-Hashimi, Bandar Al-Ahbabi, Yahya Nader, Ahmed Barman, Hashem Muhammad (Al-Ain), Ali Ghasif, Khalifa Al-Hammadi, Abdullah Muhammad Al-Attas, Mubarak Ahmad Mubarak, Abdullah Idris, Abdullah Ramadan, Ali Mabghout (Al Jazeera), Abdul Rahman Saleh, Ali Zalmin, Fabio de Lima, Kayo Canedo, Ali Saleh (Al Wasl), Walid Abbas, Yahya Al Ghazani, Muhammad Juma Eid (Shabaab Al Ahli), Atel Al Hosani, Khaled Al Tanhani, Majid Rashid, Muhammad Abdel Basid, Al-Hasan Saleh (Sharjah), Muhammad Al-Shamsi (Al-Wahda). )
With Rashid Mahir injured and Saeed Al Ameri joining national service, the technical staff ruled out two players, while the coach decided to call up Sharjah club player Al-Hasan Saleh.
