NEW YORK, 28th April, 2020 (WAM) — The Security Council today unanimously adopted a resolution prepared by the United Arab Emirates and Japan, as co-pencil holders of the Afghanistan file, condemning the Taliban’s decision to ban Afghan women from working. United Nations in Afghanistan.

Not only must the recent ban on women’s work be urgently withdrawn, but another Restricting the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan.
“We must all know that stability, economic recovery and political reconciliation in Afghanistan are not possible without the involvement of Afghan women and girls,” he added.
The resolution calls for the full, equal, meaningful and safe participation of women and girls in Afghanistan, emphasizes the urgency of continuing to address the deteriorating economic and humanitarian situation in the country, and recognizes the need to use the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan. The resolution reaffirms the important and indispensable role women play in Afghan society, and expresses deep concern over the decline in respect for women’s human rights and fundamental freedoms in Afghanistan.
