The development and achievements of the UAE’s peaceful nuclear power program, the latest of which is the start-up of the third Barakah commercial operating plant, which adds 1,400 MW of carbon-free electricity to the UAE’s electricity grid, provides a major boost to the scale of reliable and carbon-free electricity generation, which promotes energy security and sustainability. improves and brings us closer to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The Baraka plants contribute to savings of billions of dollars in the cost of gas currently consumed in power generation, thus helping the country become self-sufficient in gas by 2030. His Excellency added: “The role of nuclear energy in reducing the carbon footprint of the country’s energy sector is clear and we need it to provide 24-hour electricity and support sustainable economic growth and industrial sectors.
