KUALA LUMPUR, May 24, 2020, WAM, The Sheikh Zayed Chair was launched yesterday in the Malaysian capital, in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Strategic and International Studies, during the visit of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al. Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Malaysia.
The launch was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Khalid Khanem Al Cait and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Malaysian Institute of Strategic and International Studies, His Excellency Professor Muhammad Fayez Abdullah.
His Excellency Mohammed Ahmad Al-Mur holds the position of Co-Chairman of the Leadership, which contributes to strengthening and bridging bilateral relations between the two countries by formulating policies and providing scientific recommendations to decision-makers and relevant authorities. Established in 1983, the Malaysian Institute of Strategic and International Studies is considered Malaysia’s leading think tank. The agreement to launch Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s chair was already announced during a meeting with Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The Sheikha Fatima Chair at the National Defense University of Malaysia aims to empower women and girls in peace, security and peacekeeping missions at the United Nations, and strengthens the existing partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Malaysia.
The Malaysian National Defense University was established in 1995 with the aim of providing education and training to members of the military establishment to meet the needs of the armed forces and develop their capabilities.
The university offers 17 study programs in several disciplines, particularly strategic studies, management, marine science, engineering, science and technology.
