Emirates News Agency – Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure attends a meeting of Arab Ministers on Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia

Dubai, 12 January / WAM / The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure participated in the Eighth Consultative Meeting of Arab Ministers on Mineral Resources Affairs held in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, the eminent scholars said, “Mineral resources have played an important role in the history of mankind and its life and livelihood movement since ancient times. It continues to represent the most important pillars of civilization and the economy of the Arab world.”

He said that the geographical diversity of the United Arab Emirates is one of its most important natural features because this diversity, which lasts for more than 500 million years, has led to great diversity of mineral resources, part of which has been exploited over time.

He added, “Currently mining activities in the UAE are concentrated in industrial minerals and construction materials, in addition to certain mineral activities such as mining and surface mining, which are characterized by the ease of extraction of minerals, low cost and flexibility in controlling the country’s proximity to the earth’s surface. Manufactured by available means such as crushers, quarries and quarries located in the Emirates.

He pointed out that enhancing the contribution of the mining sector to the GDP is one of the most important objectives of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. In the future, mining and exploitation of mineral resources in collaboration with other sectors should ensure the long-term contribution of the mining sector to achieve the development ambitions set by those projects and support the goals of the United Arab Emirates. At the end of his speech, the scholars invited the Arab Ministers to attend and participate in the 16th Arab International Conference on Mineral Resources to be held under the generous support of State President Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed Al Nahyan. “May God protect him” in the Emirate of Fujairah from February 22 to 24.
