Emirates News Agency – Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed visits 32nd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

ABU DHABI, May 26 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, visited the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in its 32nd edition. It continues its activities at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center until May 28 and is organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language in association with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

In this year’s edition, the fair attracts a group of leading writers, thinkers and publishers from around the world to enrich the cultural landscape and literary heritage of the Middle East, promote collaboration opportunities and strengthen communication bridges between Arab and international publishing houses. .

During his tour of the fair, His Highness inspected several venues and local, Arabic and international publications participating in the fair. His Highness also met with a number of publishers who are contributing to promoting the spread of Arabic throughout the world through multi-cultural initiatives.

During the visit, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Administrative Office, His Excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, and His Excellency Saif Saeed were present. Kobash, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and His Excellency Saud Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, and His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language.

The 7-day fair will welcome visitors at six different cultural sites, including ADNEC, Cultural Foundation – Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Sorbonne University, New York University Abu Dhabi and the “Locos Hope” ship, the world’s largest floating book fair. Presently docked at Port Said in conjunction with exhibition activities.

In its edition this year, based on the UAE’s declaration of 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, the exhibition celebrates the concept of sustainability as a core idea. It witnesses various initiatives, events and seminars aimed at highlighting global best practices to support sustainability trends in the publishing sector, along with organizing dialogue sessions and debates on climate change and improving food security. In its current edition, the exhibition celebrates the achievements of the founder of sociology, the Arab philosopher Ibn Khaldun, by conducting historical, philosophical and literary conversations and debates in his capacity as the session’s “key figure”. Heritage in various social, economic and historical fields.

This session is considered to be the largest in the history of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, in terms of the space it occupies and the number of cultural platforms that offer a rich schedule of cultural, literary, intellectual and artistic events, surpassing it in total. The current session witnessed the participation of a large number of exhibitors and publishers exceeding 1,300 exhibitors from more than 85 countries, offering exhibition visitors more than 500,000 topics in various fields of knowledge.

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is one of the most important and leading literary and intellectual events in the Arab world. It provides a unique platform for global intellectual dialogue by organizing dialogue sessions and intellectual seminars featuring elite writers, thinkers, writers, artists and content producers from the Arab world and the rest of the world. The various activities of the fair cater to the aspirations of a diverse age group and culturally and intellectually oriented public through a multifaceted program comprising five main axes: culture, creative arts, children and youth, and special professional programs, in addition to the partners’ program. .
