ABU DHABI, August 31, 2023 – His Excellency Mohammed bin Taloub Al Tare, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Judo Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship 2023, reviewed the work of the emerging committee. The affiliates will hold the tournament from October 24 to 26.
The competitions will be held at the Mubadala Arena with the support and follow-up of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the supervision of the International Judo Federation and the participation of many organizations, institutions, ministries and official departments.
After reviewing the ongoing arrangements with the Federation Secretary General, National Olympic Committee Board of Directors Member and Competition Director Nasser Al-Tamimi, His Excellency Al-Tarai confirmed that the responsible team has completed around 90. % of its work, based on its accumulated experience of contributing to the success of all past major competitions, is satisfied. Honored by the International Judo Federation.
He added that 21 countries from around the world have applied to participate so far, 45 days before the deadline for registration as per the norms of the international federation.
Al-Tarai renewed his welcome to International Federation President Marius Wieser, International Federation members and all delegations from fraternal and friendly countries to participate in the ninth edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Judo Championship. Its first edition was launched in 2009 and it achieved many successes until it grew into the ranks of Grand Slam tournaments, thanks to the support, focus and care of a brilliant leadership.
