Dushanbe, June 5, WAM/ The UAE Judo team added a second bronze medal to its tally at the Grand Prix Championship which concluded yesterday evening in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, with a prize money of 100,000 Euros.
At the end of the competition, our player Maruf Omar managed to take the bronze medal in the over 100 kg category, defeating the champion Kazi Brazil from Kazakhstan to increase the Emirates tally to two bronze medals. Pushrat won the bronze medal in women’s 52 kg category. With this, our team was able to reach the first place among the Arab teams in the tournament and the thirteenth place in the overall ranking.
The competition gains its importance in the light of the qualification points earned by the male and female players and enables them to qualify for the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Tajikistan national team finished first at the team level with 7 medals including 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and one bronze, benefiting from a large participation of 34 male and female players.
