ABU DHABI, May 4 / WAM / Tomorrow, Friday, Al-Ahly will meet Pyramids in the Egyptian Super Cup at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

Egypt Cup champions Al-Ahly will play the match, while the Pyramids will play last season’s league runners-up, after league title holders Zamalek apologized for taking part in the match.
This is the third time that the Mohamed bin Said Stadium has hosted the Egyptian Super Cup, previously in February 2020, and Zamalek won the title at the expense of Al-Ahly in a penalty shootout, and the second time. 2017 edition, and Zamalek won that too in a penalty shootout.
Al-Ahly won the Super Cup last February with a 2-0 win over Zamalek at the Hasa bin Zayed Stadium.
Al-Ahly and Pyramids have met in 17 matches in all competitions (Egyptian League and Egypt Cup), Al-Ahly won 8 of them, Pyramids 5, while 4 matches were tied, Al-Ahly’s last win over Pyramids was in the Egypt Cup final. , last April 2-1, won the championship.
And if Al-Ahly are crowned with the title, it will become the 13th most crowned club in the Super Cup in its history, and if the Pyramids win, they will take first place. Its history for the cup, as well as in all competitions, has never achieved a title since its inception.
Al-Ahly entered the second leg goalless draw armed with qualification for the semi-finals of the African Champions League after a 2-0 first-leg win over Morocco’s Raja.
They lost the second leg 0-1 as the Pyramids enter the group looking to avenge their exit from the African Confederation Cup after a quarter-final exit against the South African side Marumo Gallants. leg, and it was tied 1-1 in the first leg.
The hosting follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Football Association and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, which includes hosting the Egyptian Super Cup for two consecutive editions.
